'BCUC Fine Art Degree Show'

This degree show took place at the end of my three year BA Fine Art course at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK. In June 2004, I exhibited three works, as seen below. To see captions about each pictures, place your cursor over the picture. For more detailed information about the work, please see below.

Please see the official site for the show at Artropia.

'guitar with bicycle wheel'
(chipboard, bicycle wheel, guitar strings and pegs)
2004

This piece is interactive. The piece is made of full sheet of chipboard, with the shape of a guitar cut from the middle. The bicycle wheel connected to the board is strung with the five strings of a guitar, with guitar pegs. One is instructed to turn the bicycle wheel gently, and the guitar-shaped chipboard rests on the strings and spokes, creating a sound as the wheel spins.

'the shower and'
(plumbing and sound system)
2004

This shower head rises straight from the ground on pipes. One is invited to pick up the shower head, using it as a phone reciever, and one hears a dialtone. When the hot tap is turned, male voices can be heard(snippets of sentences that make no coherent sense), and when the cold tap is turned, the same with female voices can be heard. Both can be heard simultaneously if both taps are turned on.

'the big'
(wall, canvas, record player, record, toy and paper)
2004

This piece is difficult to document/show. This wall is made approximately the same size and thickness as the other walls around it. One first sees the canvas with a hole in it. As one travels around the wall, one sees that the hole is the inside of a funnel that ends in a needle which touches a spinning record. The sound of the needle on record can be heard from within the cone (through the canvas) and near the record, itself. Beneath the spinning record, on the underside of the bent wall, one finds a toy whose inside spins along with the record.
